Karen Zraick is a Brooklyn-based freelance journalist. Her work has been published in The New York Times and on wnbc.com. She's currently pursuing a master's degree in new media journalism at Columbia University.

Prior to Columbia she worked as an editor and writer at Courier-Life Publications, Brooklyn's largest chain of weekly newspapers.

She holds a B.A. in Spanish, women's studies and journalism from SUNY Purchase, where she founded a student newspaper, The Purchase Record. She's currently working on a multimedia project about Burmese refugees in New York City.
