Mathilde Piard is French-American and a native of Paris. Before graduate school, she worked for various non-profit and media organizations. She has studied or worked in Japan, the U.K., Germany, Belgium and Kenya and will be spending the summer as a Dow Jones Newspaper Fund intern at the Palm Beach Post in Florida.

Her work has appeared on nytimes.com, villagevoice.com, City Limits and other websites, wires and publications.

She holds a M.A. in international relations from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, and she spent her summers interning at the BBC and Agence France-Presse.
