With the 2008 presidential race already underway, health issues are once again on the minds of many Americans. New Yorkers are no exception. From noise pollution to secondhand smoke, the roughly 8.1 million people who call New York City home are exposed to an inordinate number of health hazards. For this year's final issue of NYC24, we set out to explore health from a New York perspective.
Rather than tackle health just from a policy standpoint, we focus on the personal struggles of New Yorkers to lead healthier lives.
Some of our reporters tell stories which embody this struggle, while others tell
intriguing tales about people who are healing others.
Our goal for this special report, Rx: New York, was to tell real, New York stories about health—not only in the traditional way, but also through the use of multimedia and animation.
We're proud of the website that all of us have worked together to create. We invite you to explore it, and let us know what you think.
