From concert halls and karaoke bars to construction sites and sidewalks, sounds pervade the New York City fabric in welcome and not-so-welcome ways. While many New Yorkers block city sound with headphones or double-paned windows, others have committed themselves to incorporating the city’s cacophony into an orchestra all their own. In this issue of NYC24, please join us for a multimedia trip through New York City’s 24/7 soundtrack.

NYC24 is a biweekly news magazine assembled by 27 journalists from 4 countries, 13 states and four out of five boroughs (sorry, Staten Island!). Throughout the spring of 2006, we will take advantage of the Web's full storytelling potential to bring you real New York stories on a variety of themes.

Add us to your bookmarks, visit our blog and don’t miss our final project -- "The New New Yorkers" -- on May 8.
