Q: How did you get into comics?

A: The first comic I ever brought was Superman and a Madballs. Someone had one at school and I read it and I thought it was awesome. My favorite was the Transformers. I started collecting Transformers when I was 12. I always planned on being a comc book artist since I was a kid. For a minute I wanted to be a farmer because my dad was a farmer.

Q: How did you start your minicomic Skullboy?

A: After college my friend Ty was setting up his website and he asked me to put together a comic for the site. I just started doodling. I had all these ideas for a comic strip with monkeys and robots and a boy with a skull for his head. I think it was my roomates at the time that said why don’t you put them in a strip together. So I did.

Q: How did you first get recognized?

A: Dark Horse was having a strip search competition. I figured it was done so why not submit it. I won for the week. I came in second place for the yearly competition.
