Tired of being stuck on the wrong side of the velvet rope? Spend a little time online planning ahead; there's a plethora of websites promising

Even in the most exclusive, lavishly comfortable Spider Room in Avalon, which TimeOut New York called one of the most exclusive clubs in its recent Club Issue, DJ Stewart scoffs at the notion of a true VIP. "It's not about the party anymore, any idiot can buy a couple bottles," he says.

to get your name on the right lists to the right parties. The sites below allow members (membership is free in exchange for an email address) to sign up for complimentary or reduced-fare entrée to the clubs of their choice. But in an industry where getting people in is just as important as keeping people out, these sites may treat you more like a number than a VIP. Club promoters are often paid by the head, and with the opening of several new and large clubs throughout the city, NY Nightlife Association president David Rabin has said he wonders where all the people are going to come from. Nevertheless, with venues like Lot 61 and Viscaya, these sites may be worth a click.
