Where New Yorkers Come to Play

Despite undergoing many changes over the years, Randall's and Ward's islands continue to serve as a playground for athletic city dwellers.

Dozens of baseball diamonds and soccer fields are spread over the two islands, which have been connected by a landfill for decades.

Sandwiched between the East and Harlem rivers, Randall's and Ward's islands also house the Manhattan Psychiatric Center, the New York Fire Department's Academy, a homeless shelter and a water treatment facility.
