Greene Street, SoHo

Located in a historic part of SoHo, a chic downtown neighborhood of New York, Greene Street has undergone much of the transformation that is typical to this city.

From a run-down stretch with affordable storage spaces, Greene Street has dramatically emerged as an upscale fashion locale.

Louis Vuitton, one of the new up-market shops on the street.

Today, amid the cast-iron buildings, cobblestone streets and iron lampposts, contemporary designer stores like Louis Vuitton and Helmut Lang have yet again transformed Greene Street into a chic designer haven.

But chic designer havens come at a price: high rents. Richer artists have moved their galleries to Chelsea. Others have moved to Long Island City, Brooklyn or New Jersey.
