Couric doesn’t usually venture the one flight up from the studio
to the green room, she makes some exceptions. "If somebody’s
really nervous or apprehensive and hasn’t done much TV, or they’ve
been through a terrible experience and they’re here to talk about
it, I’ll make a point of it," she said. She also tries to stop
by if a guest has "really made an effort to get here, and their
family’s here, and they really want to meet you."
There
are times when some guests don’t want to let go of their 15 minutes.
Darva Conger, of "Who Wants To Marry a Multimillionaire"
fame, was not anxious to leave the green room of "Good Morning
America" after her appearance on the show, said Jenny Horowitz,
a green room assistant and segment producer there. Getting Conger
out, she said, was "like storming the beaches of Normandy."
