NEIGHBORHOOD COMPRISED OF WINDING STREETS and low-rise homes with backyards, Corona has undergone a major population shift in recent years. Decades ago, this area in northern Queens was home to Polish and German immigrants, and a few Puerto Ricans. Now, as waves of Colombians, Ecuadorians and Dominicans have settled in the area, Corona is a barrio latino, or Hispanic neighborhood. Vendors sell Mexican tacos on the sidewalk, movie theaters dub American films into Spanish and salsa music wafts into the street from record stores.
